N Kumar, Vice Chairman, the Sanmar Group, was a member of a Confederation of Indian Industry delegation that visited Singapore in December last. It was CII’s 12th annual visit to Singapore. During the visit, the team, led by CII President Anand Mahindra, briefed Singapore Prime Minister, Goh Chok Tong, on the economic and business situation in India.

The Sanmar quiz team of Ramkumar Shankar and A H Kesari Prasad won the third prize in the national final of the AIMA National Management Quiz-2004. The winner of the quiz was a team from Tata Consultancy Services (Mumbai), while Team Brains of Chennai came second. As the second runner-up Shankar and Prasad won a cash award of Rs 10,000.

Nidhi Nayan Shah, daughter of Nayan M Shah, Flowserve Sanmar, Vadodara, won a silver medal in judo in the 49th National School Games championship competition held at Delhi from December 24 to 29, 2003. Nidhi is a two-time winner of the gold medal at the district (Vadodara) and State (Gujarat) levels in the under-14 category. The feisty 13-year old is also adept at drawing and has a good academic record to boot.
