The Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children celebrated its 22nd anniversary on 12 December 2011. PR Venketrama Raja, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Ramco Systems, Chennai, was the chief guest.
A dance programme was conceived and presented on the fi ve types of natural landscape, Kurinji, Mullai, Marudam, Neidal and Palai and the wealth of Tamil Nadu, while drawing an analogy to the children of MNC – each child is an individual and unique and yet forms part of a larger group. Variety is a challenge and yet an asset. The potential of the special children and their parents was evident in their dance performance.
Singapore Airlines Contest
Three students won prizes in the “Think Sydney, think Singapore Airlines Contest”, jointly sponsored by Singapore Airlines and Destination New South Wales and conducted across India’s metros. The contest featured 15 schools from Chennai, 425 participants in all. Class VIII student Keshav Moorthy won a fi ve-day sponsored trip to Sydney; Subhiksha of class VIII and Shreya Kini of Class VI won cash awards of Rs.10,000/- and Rs.5,000/-
National Swimming Championship
Sanskriti Srinivasan of class VI participated in the CBSE National Swimming Championship organised by Sagar Public School, Bhopal, during November 2011 and she won the Numero Uno position in the 50 m Back stroke under 12 event.
Out of 28 schools under Rotary Club of Madras, Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar, won the Best Interact Club Rolling Trophy instituted by PP Rtn MS Guhan.
Bank of Baroda rolling trophy
The School received the Bank of Baroda rolling trophy awarded by the Madras Voluntary Blood Bank for organising the most number of voluntary blood donors at camps held in the school.
Rotary interactor award
S Nithilam, President, Interact Club, received the best interactor award for the year 2010-11 and a rolling trophy from Rotary Club of Madras in recognition of her services for the cause of the community through various activities.
Interactors Adhithya and Sanjana Gautam won the fi rst and second places respectively in the Rotary 4-way Test Essay Writing Competition on “India against corruption”, held in September 2011.
