Year 2000 Readiness Statement
Sanmar Industrial Systems Limited (SISL) understands the concern of our customers about year 2000 issues on the automation system, presently running at various customer sites. This statement is on our definition, approach and testing plans, as they relate to implementing the generally accepted requirements for year 2000 readiness. ‘Year 2000 Ready’ for a system means, the performance or functionality of the system as a whole will not be affected by dates prior to, during and after year 2000. In particular:
SISL will stand behind the Year 2000 readiness of the integrated system covering the items supplied and commissioned by them. Based on the requirements it will be the responsibility of SISL to identify critical subsystems and to ensure their year 2000 readiness independently wherever needed. Subsystems which do not contribute to date related components for system operation, will be treated as non critical.
In case of third party hardware and software products used in conjunction with the SISL system but which did not form part of SISL’s supplies, SISL will not comment on Y2000 readiness of them nor responsible for their impact on the system. Year 2000 tests are intended to ensure the successful operation of the integrated system. The tests shall prove current dates for date-stamping data, alarm & event messages, field-equipment interfaces, network data transfers between clients and servers and other operations.
Critical dates and test details will be decided by SISL based on the system requirements, but these dates would as a minimum be:
1. December 31, 1999
2. January 01, 2000
3. February 29, 2000
4. December 31, 2000
5. January 01, 2001
System longevity into 2000 within the life span of the system will also be tested. Year 2000 readiness certification will be based on a self assessment model. SISL will conduct the tests and determine that the system meets the requirements of application and environment and issue the certificate.
