Matriculation Examination held in March 1999 scoring the highest marks of 1031/1100.

In the Plus Two examination held in March 2001, she scored 1169/1200 and was declared first among the students of 213 matriculation schools in Chennai District. She will shortly be receiving an award from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Vijayalakshmi has also bagged a cash award and the TVR silver medal given by ‘Dinamalar’, a Tamil daily, recognising her outstanding performance.

The TCS IT.COM Quiz “Beyond the Obvious” was conducted on November 10, 2001 at the Kamarajar Arangam. Out of 813 teams from various city schools, six qualified for the finals after a preliminary written quiz. Aniruddha N Udipi and Arun Chander of Standard XI represented Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar, and won the second runner up position after successfully answering the tie-breaker. Each of these students was gifted articles worth Rs.50,000/-.
