The kumbhabhishekam or consecration ceremony of the Vinayaka (another name for Lord Ganesa) temple at the works was performed on that day by renowned priests. There was active and enthusiastic participation from all the employees and the local populace. Senior executives of the Chlorochemicals Division present at the function included S Subramanian, Executive Director, A Janakiraman, President and V Ramachandran, Vice President. A kumbhabhishekam, the most important ceremony at any temple, is performed when a new temple is consecrated or renovations are made.

In 1972, a temple was built under the guidance and supervision of Sri Vanmeeganatha Sthapathi of Mahabalipuram and a kumbhabhishekam was performed, followed by another in 1985. A significant event in the history of the temple was the puja performed there by His Holiness Jayendra Saraswati of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
