The Sanmar Group has been a generous patron of cricket, with Chemplast Sanmar supporting domestic cricket for over five decades. It has sponsored cricket teams in All India cricket tournaments besides offering job security to cricketers of high calibre. Many of the players supported by the Group have played for their respective state and for the national cricket team. Chemplast Sanmar sponsors Jolly Rovers and the Alwarpet Cricket Club in the first division of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) league.

The Chairman of the Group, N Sankar and Vice Chairman, N Kumar are past Presidents of the Madras Cricket Club, while Sankar is also a past President of the TNCA. Both have headed apex tennis bodies – at the national and state levels. The Deputy Chairman, Vijay Sankar is currently a Vice-President of the Tamilnadu Tennis Association (TNTA).
