Three of Sanmar Shipping’s vessels have been awarded the Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue (AMVER) certificates from the US Coast Guard (USCG). Sanmar vessels have been participating since the inception of the company in the AMVER programme, as a demonstration of its commitment to Safety of Life at Sea.
AMVER collects vessels’ position information sent out by ships participating in the programme and collates it for the Search and Rescue Network to respond to emergencies at sea. A minimum of 128 days in a calendar year on the AMVER plot is necessary to qualify for the annual award. Three Sanmar ships, Symphony, Sentinel and Pageant qualified for the award in 2002. Sanmar Sentinel, a participant for five consecutive years, has qualified for a gold pennant.
Matrix is proud to display these certificates and a letter of commendation received by Sanmar Shipping from the USCG.
