The Sanmar Ladies got together at Hotel Savera on September 20, 2000. A programme called ‘The Quality of Life’ was conducted by the Life Skills Foundation for Education – a non-profit organisation run by a team of dedicated professionals, experienced in attitudinal training, most importantly – an all women team. The programme included group activities, discussions, and demonstrations.
The programme started with an activity in which each participant had to find answers to questions, from the other participants. This not only helped everyone to warm up but also enthused the participants to shed their inhibitions, feel at ease and involve in the activities whole-heartedly. The group activities, including the demonstrations, brought out highly innovative ideas from the ladies.
This was followed by a discussion that highlighted the different roles each of us play in our day to day life, which are decided by the environment and how to influence oneself to improve and play one’s role more effectively.
The next group activity stressed the need to have a clear objective and how clarity of thought helps one to reach the chosen objective. Ambiguity makes each one interpret the same situation in different ways. The discussion that followed explained the three As of success (1) to accept (2) to adapt and (3) to alter – which help us adjust to any situation and achieve our goals. Methods to reduce stress by keeping the demands within the reach of our capacity to cope, were expounded. The programme gave all the ladies an opportunity to involve themselves in all activities and discussions with great enthusiasm.
The Sanmar Ladies spent their day learning various skills required to better the quality of life and decided to meet for more such interactive programmes in the future.
