A keen tennis player himself and an avid cricket enthusiast, KSN was a true patron of sport. He was the driving force behind the KSN Sports Foundation, promoting cricket, tennis and other sporting activities, even before corporate sponsorship became fashionable. He was a life member of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and a patron of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association.
KSN also supported the fine arts and people development. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Music Academy, Madras, and a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education. He was Chairman of Sankar Polytechnic of India Cements for four decades. He was also Chairman of the Indian Education Trust which manages Sankara Schools in Chennai for about three decades.
