Global issues at Model United Nations platform
Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar
Sri Sankara Model United Nations conference (SANMUN) was held between 21–23 August 2010 with resounding success.
Delegates from twelve schools, including from Bangalore and Sharjah, UAE participated. Heated debates and peaceful negotiations, so much like the real United Nations conferences, resulted in resolutions being passed in several committees including security council, human rights commission, environmental commission, economic and social council and disarmament council.

As a part of Global School Partnership programme, the Principal Subala Ananthanarayanan and the Vice Principal, S Meenakshi from Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar, went to UK on a Reciprocal visit supported by British Council. They visited Hardenhuish School, Chippenham, Wiltshire, UK, during the last week of June 2010.

Higher Secondary School, Tiruvanmiyur
Sri Sankara Vidyashramam conducted Inter school fest for the Chennai schools as part of Madras day celebrations. The fest drew enthusiastic participation from 140 students of four Government and seven private schools. Several competitions were held and winners awarded. Sri Sankara Vidyashramam received the shield for organising innovative programmes from INTACH during the valedictory function on 28 August 2010.
S Illakkiya Raghavi, Vijaya Lalitha and S Priyanka receiving the second prize from S Ve Shekher, leading film and theatre personality and politician, in the Multi Media Presentation contest organised by Mylapore Times during Madras day celebrations on 17 August 2010. Their remarkable presentation on the 1000 year old ‘Thenupureeshwarar temple’ was well appreciated by the judges.
