Santhanaraman, son of S Pattabiraman, Senior Foreman, Chemplast, Plant II, PVC Division, Mettur performed extremely well in his Higher Secondary Examinations (Plus Two) held by the Higher Secondary Board of Examinations, Tamil Nadu in April this year. He stood first in Salem District securing 1155 marks out of 1200.

With this achievement, Santhanaraman has earned a scholarship from the Government of Tamil Nadu for his college education. At a colourful function held recently at Chennai, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi, gave away a certificate of merit and a cash prize to Santhanaraman.
The cadets of Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar and Sri Sankara Vidyasharamam Matric Higher Secondary School, Thiruvanmiyur attended the NCC Annual Training Camp held at Thriveni Academy, Chingleput District, from 24th June to 3rd July, 1999.
Twenty schools (junior wing) from Tamil Nadu attended the camp. At the competitions held there, Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar, secured the first place in group firing and was adjudged the Best Contingent.
The school was also declared the Best School Troop. S Keerthi of Class IX bagged the first prize in individual firing. Preethi Srinivas of Class X secured the first prize in the classical (solo) dance competition held at the camp. The cadets also bagged many group prizes, the second place for group singing and the third place for solo song and group dance.
