The fifth and final One-Day International between India and New Zealand took place at the IIT-Chemplast cricket ground on 16th December 2003. After losing the first four matches, New Zealand won the last one in an exciting finish. Former India captain S Venkataraghavan was the chief guest at the start of the match, while Sanmar Group Chairman N Sankar gave away cash prizes donated by AMP Sanmar for the best batswoman, best bowler, player of the match, and lifetime achievement, at a ceremony after the match.
