Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar, launched Computer Based Learning, a pioneering project for sixth standard children of the school. Under the new method, teachers of mathematics, science, English and social studies are trained to make Powerpoint presentations of their lessons. In the school’s computer laboratory, well equipped with nearly 35 multimedia systems, the teacher explains concepts to the students through Powerpoint, supplemented by textbooks and downloads from relevant websites. At the end of every session, the children take an objective type online test. The programme is supported by Fourth R, a reputed training institute.
