Sanmar Engineering Corporation (SEC) introduced cellular manufacturing at Viralimalai and Chennai units effective April 1, 1999, and May 1, 2000 respectively. The SEC Industrial Relations team organised a two-day training programme on Cell Council Effectiveness for the first batch of 30 employees on 10th and 11th November 2000 at Viralimalai.

The training programme focused on the methods to be adopted for enhancing the performance of cells. SEC proposes to train approximately 250 employees on this specialised subject with the help of senior executives as faculty members.
The programme was well attended by cell leaders, facilitators, QC representatives and work council members. M N Radhakrishnan, Managing Director, SEC, inaugurated the programme and elaborated on cell management and also about the functioning of SEC. V Ramesh, Chief Executive, Flowserve Sanmar Limited, addressed another batch of 50 cell members and supervisors of Viralimalai on the subject, “Cell Manufacturing – Concepts and Practices”.
